Waist Bead History
Waist beads are said to have originated in Egypt and then popularized by the Yoruba tribes in Africa. They were worn traditionally as a right of passage, for femininity, sexuality, fertility, and healing. They have also helped women track their weight, while simultaneously celebrating the divine feminine and womanhood.
